Dubai Jewellery Group, Jewellers Association Jaipur sign MoU to boost strategic partnership

The pact reaffirms the strong partnership between the gems and jewellery industries of Dubai and Jaipur while exploring new opportunities for trade, education and international collaboration
Jaipur: The Dubai Jewellery Group (DJG) and Jewellers Association Jaipur (JAJ) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a long-term framework for cooperation across coloured gemstone education, trade promotion and international market development.
The agreement was formalized during the visit of a high-level DJG delegation to Jaipur for the Jewellers Association Show (JAS 2026), marking a significant step in strengthening strategic ties between the two key gems and jewellery hubs. The MoU covers initiatives including consumer awareness programmes, buyer-seller interactions, business facilitation, market intelligence sharing, joint trade delegations, participation in global exhibitions and the potential establishment of a coloured gemstone testing laboratory in Dubai.

The DJG delegation was led by Tawhid Abdullah, Chairman of Dubai Jewellery Group and CEO of Jawhara Jewellery, and included K. P. Abdul Salam, Treasurer of DJG and Vice Chairman of Malabar Gold & Diamonds; Anurag Sinha, Board Director of DJG and Managing Director of Liali Jewellery; Saeed Al Ghanim, CEO of Memoire Jewellery; and Mamta Maria, General Manager of DJG.
The visit programme was facilitated by Ashish Garg, Board Director of DJG and Head of Business – Middle East, KGK Group, who helped shape the strategic agenda with a focus on coloured gemstones and long-term collaboration.
Raju Agarwal Mangodiwala, President of JAJ, emphasized the vision of strengthening Jaipur’s position as a global coloured gemstone hub through deeper international partnerships and increased buyer engagement.
Both organizations aligned on positioning Jaipur as the ‘Gemstone Capital of the World’, drawing parallels with Dubai’s ‘City of Gold’ identity. Industry leaders highlighted Jaipur’s strengths in cutting and polishing over 300 varieties of gemstones, supported by robust manufacturing, trading and financing capabilities.
The partnership aims to encourage global buyers and jewellery brands to source directly from Jaipur, while leveraging Dubai’s strengths as a leading global hub for trading, logistics, finance and distribution.
During the visit, the delegation also toured KGK Group’s manufacturing facilities in Jaipur, gaining insights into integrated operations and advanced gemstone processing capabilities.
At the JEA Gala Night 2026, held on July 4, Tawhid Abdullah was conferred the ‘JAS Architect of Organized Jewellery Retail in the Middle East Award’ in recognition of his pioneering role in shaping the organized jewellery retail sector across the Middle East. K. P. Abdul Salam was honoured with the ‘JAS Global Jewellery Retail Leadership Award’ for his outstanding contribution to international jewellery retailing and industry leadership.
The DJG’s visit lays the foundation for a stronger strategic partnership focused on innovation, international trade and sustainable industry growth. Through this partnership, Jaipur’s unmatched gemstone expertise and Dubai’s global connectivity are expected to create new opportunities for the international gems and jewellery industry while further strengthening the India-UAE economic relationship.
Looking ahead, plans are under way to bring a larger Dubai delegation to JAS 2027, further deepening bilateral industry engagement.
