Technology has helped progressive jewellery brand Meena Jewellers LLC UAE tide over the crisis of in-store service to e-commerce completely with a sleek process and technology advancing regularly for better workflow. Praising Suntech’s technology enabling product analysis better, Sahil Jethwani, Management Head, Meena Jewellers, speaks with The Retail Jeweller World.

  1. The Retail Jeweller (TRJ): In the last 5 years, how has technology helped you to enhance your business?

Sahil Jethwani (SJ): Technology has helped develop several aspects of our business in the last 5 years. Regarding brand visibility, technology has helped us assess efficiency of our value chain by tracking data. It has also improved the accuracy of decision-making. Analysing data of customers and products have helped enhance the value and flexibility of the organizational processes, which would have otherwise been impossible or too hard to implement.

TRJ:How has Suntech’s technology helped you in improving your processes and sales? Are there specific instances that come to mind?

SJ: The technology Suntech provides has been immensely beneficial. In particular, the ERP system has helped our future purchase decisions easier based on product data available. The system helps input, organize and analyse data to have a clear visibility of types of products, price ranges and other metrics in sale.

TRJ:How would you advocate Suntech’s product portfolio when it comes to a retailer’s holistic improvement — both at the front end and back-end?

SJ: Two factors come into mind about Suntech’s expertise improving retail operations. The first is sound industry knowledge, which is reflected in Suntech’s product portfolio, be it the ERP system, innovative front-end retail-specific solutions, invoice, billing or full-fledged e-commerce solutions, Suntech is well aware of the needs of the industry and thus builds necessary infrastructure. Secondly, constant addition of new technology is a fantastic benefit if one is already working with Suntech.

TRJ: What is your vision for the jewellery industry for 2025?What is your message to your fellow jewellers?

SJ:There has been several shifts in jewellery industry because of the pandemic. Based on that shifts, the fine jewellery industry will now be brand-oriented, digital and sustainable. The consumer migration to digital has been stronger than expected because of the pandemic. Still, the jewellery industry is lagging behind as consumer have already started purchasing luxury goods in other sectors online. Fashion brands the world over are reshaping inventory towards sustainability, and that is going to be the way ahead for the fine jewellery sector too.
