The Swiss watch and jewellery brand has launched a Ramadan initiative to help young women preserve the heritage of ancient craftsmanship in Saudi Arabia…

Bazaar can exclusively reveal the exciting news of a CSR programme that will see luxury brand Piaget support young female artisans from the AlUla region of The Kingdom. The jewellery house will provide scholarships to masterclasses from in-house designers at Piaget and experts from renowned art school HEAD Genève – helping students learn, nurture and develop traditional crafts from the region. The goal is to develop a long-term programme to empower and enable local people to make heritage-inspired craft products which will generate sustainable income by being sold commercially.

The art and culture development initiative in partnership with the Royal Commission of AlUla, will join forces with Turquoise Mountain – a Prince of Wales foundation that works to restore historic areas and traditional crafts, specialising in the classic design elements discovered in the AlUla area. In addition to the educational support, students from the girl’s school in AlUla will be encouraged to enter a Piaget competition to design jewellery that combines the brand’s aesthetic with the traditional designs from the region.

The initiative will launch alongside Piaget’s Ramadan campaign for their latest Possession collection, which was partly filmed in AlUla.
