With the 108-metre lab-grown diamond necklace, the brand aimed for a Guinness World Record. The event, which drew over 80,000 visitors and featured 500 global exhibitors, underlined the rising importance of lab-grown diamonds in luxury jewellery
Sharjah: The 55th Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show, held from May 28 to June 1, 2025, at Expo Centre Sharjah, witnessed a landmark moment for the lab-grown diamond industry. UAE-based Amaar Jewels unveiled what is being claimed as the world’s longest diamond necklace. Measuring 108 metres in length, the necklace was set with over 600 lab-grown diamonds in 18-karat rose gold. The record attempt was formally assessed by Guinness World Records on the opening day of the show.
This debut marks a significant move in the positioning of lab-grown diamonds within the high-end jewellery space. Designed and executed entirely by Amaar Jewels, the piece drew attention from both trade professionals and the public for its scale and technical execution. It reflects the increasing adoption of lab-grown diamonds in the premium category and the industry’s interest in sustainable alternatives.
The Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show, organised by Expo Centre Sharjah with support from the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), hosted more than 500 exhibitors from over 20 countries. These included key manufacturing and retail hubs such as the UAE, India, Italy, the UK, the US, Singapore, China, Japan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Lebanon. The show also welcomed first-time participation from exhibitors representing Russia, Mexico, Tanzania, and Egypt.
Over the course of five days, more than 1,800 jewellery designers, manufacturers, wholesalers, and trade buyers engaged in networking and sourcing opportunities. The show coincided with the Eid Al Adha holiday, contributing to a footfall of over 80,000 visitors. A wide selection of fine jewellery, gold ornaments, luxury watches, and certified diamond collections were presented, with many participants offering competitive pricing strategies.
Other major attractions at the event included the world’s largest gold frame, constructed in 21-karat gold and engraved with motifs of UAE landmarks. Salem Al Shueibi Jewellery displayed a diverse portfolio of over 100,000 jewellery pieces, showcasing cultural and contemporary design influences.
This edition of the show further established Sharjah’s role as a growing hub for international jewellery trade. By incorporating record-breaking design showcases, increased international participation, and a strong visitor response, the event reinforced its relevance to the regional and global jewellery industry.
