Azza Fahmy Jewellery unveils special retrospective honouring ancient Egypt at Grand Egyptian Museum boutique

The exhibition traces the brand’s 12-year exploration of Ancient Egypt’s artistic language through archival and contemporary designs
Giza: As part of the inaugural celebrations of the Grand Egyptian Museum, Egyptian luxury jewellery house Azza Fahmy Jewellery has unveiled a special retrospective at its boutique located within the museum premises. The showcase brings together archival creations and new collections, representing more than a decade of research and craftsmanship inspired by Ancient Egypt.Â
The retrospective traces the brand’s long-standing engagement with Egypt’s cultural legacy, exploring how study, travel, and design have shaped its interpretation of ancient artistry for a contemporary audience. The curation highlights the creative process through which historical research and artisanal practice intersect, presenting jewellery as a medium through which Egypt’s visual and symbolic language continues to evolve.
Founder and designer Azza Fahmy began studying Ancient Egyptian culture over 12 years before translating its essence into jewellery form. Her dedication to authentic representation—through field visits, museum studies, and scholarly research—culminated in the launch of the brand’s first Ancient Egyptian collection in 2012. This debut marked a defining moment for the house, establishing a design language that drew deeply from Egypt’s 7,000-year heritage while presenting it through refined, modern craftsmanship.
Over time, Fahmy’s daughter Amina Ghali, now Design Director at the house, joined her mother in this exploration. Their shared passion for Egypt’s antiquities, often pursued through annual research journeys across Luxor and global museums, has shaped a generational dialogue between past and present. The retrospective honours this collaborative journey, highlighting the evolution of motifs, inscriptions, and craftsmanship that connect successive collections to the enduring legacy of Ancient Egypt.
At the museum boutique, the display includes pieces from the brand’s Shen Collection, which reinterprets symbols of protection, power, and eternity that defined ancient jewellery traditions. The exhibition reinforces the brand’s continued commitment to preserving Egyptian cultural identity through meticulous handcrafting and storytelling in gold and silver.
Positioned within the newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum, the boutique aims to offer visitors a deeper connection between history and design. It presents Azza Fahmy Jewellery not only as a contemporary luxury brand but also as a custodian of cultural heritage whose design philosophy bridges art, history, and craftsmanship. The retrospective marks both a celebration of Egypt’s artistic roots and a continuation of Fahmy’s lifelong pursuit to reinterpret its timeless symbols for the modern world.
