Bahrain’s New Jumbo Jewellers debuts in India, targets Gujarat market for strategic expansion
The Indian-origin jewellery brand has launched its flagship retail store in Ahmedabad, bringing its legacy of handcrafted luxury jewellery to the Indian market, and banking on the immense potential of the country’s economy
Ahmedabad: New Jumbo Jewellers (NJL House of Jewellery), an Indian-origin jewellery brand from Bahrain, has officially entered the Indian market with the launch of its flagship retail store in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Founded in 1979, New Jumbo Jewellers has achieved remarkable growth over the years, establishing a robust retail presence with 11 stores across Bahrain within its first five years of operation. The move to India marks a significant milestone in the company’s journey, reflecting its confidence in the country’s thriving jewellery market.
Recognizing Gujarat’s prominence in India’s jewellery landscape, New Jumbo Jewellers has set its sights on Ahmedabad as the epicenter of its Indian operations. The company plans to open 3-4 more stores in the city, with properties already secured for these expansions.
“India is undoubtedly a shining market for jewellery, with Gujarat being a particularly lucrative segment. Starting with Ahmedabad, we aim to establish a strong foothold in India and gradually expand across the nation,” said Janak Parekh, Director of NJL House of Jewellery.
New Jumbo Jewellers’s Ahmedabad store offers an exclusive range of natural certified diamonds and pearls, emphasizing quality and authenticity. The company has partnered with SGL, a globally recognized diamond certification and metal quality control authority, to ensure its diamond offerings meet international standards.
Additionally, the brand’s all-natural pearl jewellery is certified by DANAT, a trusted name in pearl certification, further underscoring New Jumbo Jewellers’s commitment to excellence.
Parekh highlighted the strategic timing of the brand’s entry into India, citing the nation’s position as the world’s fifth-largest economy and its growing appetite for high-quality jewellery. “The Indian market holds immense potential, and the time is ripe to bring our expertise back home. Our family has been crafting handmade jewellery for over a century, and this expansion allows us to offer our bespoke services to Indian consumers,” Parekh stated.
The launch event saw the attendance of 15 prominent jewellers from Bahrain, six of whom also expressed keen interest in entering the Indian market. This underscores the growing recognition of India as a global hub for jewellery trade and business.
While Ahmedabad serves as the starting point, New Jumbo Jewellers’ long-term vision encompasses a pan-India presence. “Our inspiration stems from a desire to blend our legacy of handmade jewellery with the demands of the modern Indian market. This expansion is more than a business move; it’s about reconnecting with our roots and sharing our craftsmanship with a wider audience,” Parekh added.
As New Jumbo Jewellers embarks on its Indian journey, its commitment to quality, exclusivity and customer-centric services positions it as an emerging player in the country’s competitive jewellery market.
