What started in one of the temples of fashion in the world, New York, is slowly on its way to create waves in the Middle Eastern shores. We are talking about a fine jewellery label that comes with its own unique taste — Renna.

With a mission to create jewels of the highest quality for the modern woman, Renna celebrates effortlessly elegant women who value their individuality. The creator of the brand, Renna Brown-Taher, says her inspiration centres around two coffee bean shells that her mother and she discovered at Salt Creek Beach in Laguna one summer morning. Today, her line creates unique fine jewellery pieces, which stand out for their unparalleled craftsmanship, design direction and uniqueness.

As she comes with a Middle eastern heritage, today she makes her presence felt in the region.

Growing up in Pacific Palisades, California, Renna’s creative connection with the natural world began one summer morning after discovering two coffee bean shells with her mother at Salt Creek Beach in Laguna. Her mother created the original pieces of shell jewellery, which Renna has treasured for over a decade before embarking on her own journey of creation. Renna currently resides in New York. She is a certified graduate gemmologist through the Gemological Institute of America and holds her Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley and her Master’s degree from the Sotheby’s Institute of Art.

Renna’s pieces string together the beautiful conglomeration of what can be called a confluence of the two natural elements, the land and the sea.

The Land jewels reflect the beauty of the natural world through precious metals and gemstones. Whilst some of Renna’s favourites shape this collection, new pieces will be added throughout the year, creating an ever-evolving boutique focusing on an exploration of the natural elements, combining graceful aesthetics with exquisite craftsmanship.

The sea is the counterpart of land, and the ever-evolving sea boutique encompasses Renna’s well-known golden seashell pieces which have garnered a worldwide following for their notable craftsmanship and weighty presence. This is one line that the brand hopes to take forward in the coming times.

One of the notable collections from the brand is the RENNA X MUZO line. The collection uses carved gemstones that are the epitome of eastern jewellery, the most recent popularisation of which was made in the 1930 ‘tutti-frutti’ designs. Gemstones are notorious for the history that they bear. This year, Renna plans to add on to this line with two new designs ruling the roost. She combines her modern, yet wearable design philosophy with time-honoured materials. This collection pays homage to the exotic tradition of carved gemstones. “When people ask me what my mission is, I tell them it is very simple — creating the most beautiful pieces for the modern woman. This, I believe, can be accomplished with minimum impact on the resources that nature has bestowed us with. This has been my motto since when I was a child. I dedicate my time to creating and curating timeless, elegant and individual pieces. I look forward to contributing to the special moments in your life through the magic of jewellery,” said Renna.
