Chandraprakash Siroya bags rare honour by World Book of Records
For his groundbreaking initiatives and humanitarian efforts during the pandemic, Siroya has been honoured by the global organization in a bid to motivate and inspire people with a pledge to be committed to save, serve and educate others to stay safe in the Covid-19 pandemic period
If there is one thing that Covid has shown the jewellery industry, it is humility. For some jewellers and social architects though, the beauty of the word is a little different. It did not take the pandemic for them to show the world their beautiful side fraught with human feelings and tenderness.
Chandraprakash Siroya, the director of Siroya Jewellers Dubai and the vice-chairman of the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group, is one such soul, who led the charge during the pandemic. Starting from opening his coffers for the betterment of the manufacturing bodies and his workers to keeping the business line on point, this gentleman has done it all.
Recognizing his contribution in driving change during the pandemic and his humanitarian efforts, the World Book of Records honoured him with a certificate of commitment. The award was conferred upon him by Dr Jitendra Matlani, the vice president of The World Book of Records-London’s Dubai chapter.
World Book Of Records has taken an initiative to motivate and inspire people with a pledge to be committed to save, serve and educate others to stay safe in the Covid-19 pandemic period. Mr Chandraprakash Siroya was congratulated by Santosh Shukla, President of World Book of Records London (United Kingdom). There could be no one better than Siroya, or simply Chandu bhai, as he is known in the jewellery fraternity, for the honour.
When The Retail Jeweller World reached out to him, he was his usual humble self. “This is nothing huge. I know other people who have done ten times the amount of work that I did. When I got a call from the World Book Of Records, the first thing I told them was that I wanted these stellar people to receive the honour. When the organization reached out to these people, they were equally humbled and nominated me. It was a domino effect really,” he said.
“Being human and serving the world during a time of crisis should come to people naturally. These are unprecedented times and industry leaders should step up first if they have the means. Helping the community, educating them about the pandemic to ensure their safety and prosperity is a must in such trying times. Nevertheless, I am humbled to have been the recipient of such a prestigious honour,” he added good naturedly. Born in Rajasthan, Siroya has had the penchant for jewellery since a child. After graduating from Mumbai, he moved to Dubai to join the family business. In 1992, Siroya Jewellers LLC was formed. Since then, in a career spanning 38 years, Mr. Chandu has spearheaded the growth of the company. A thought leader, he has also been a member of the Dubai Gold Advisory Group at DMCC since its inception. Today, it is an important body of trade and is instrumental in keeping alive Dubai’s name as the City of Gold. He is also a member of the Dubai Precious Metals Conference, a thinker and reformer.
