Celebrating 243 years of cultural heritage, the exhibition was inaugurated by QM Chairperson Sheikha Al Mayassa, bringing together Maison Chaumet’s nature-inspired jewellery with Qatari artistic contributions.

Doha: On November 1, Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad al-Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, officially opened the ‘Chaumet & Nature: Nature-Inspired Jewellery Since 1780, presented by Chaumet’ exhibition at M7, Doha’s innovation hub for fashion, design, and technology. The exhibition is set to take place from November 1 to December 19.

The inauguration event was attended by Charles Leung, CEO of Chaumet, alongside a distinguished group of artists and guests. The exhibition, organized by Maison Chaumet in collaboration with Qatar Museums, M7, and Qatar Creates, showcases over 100 jewels from Chaumet’s and Qatar Museums’ collections, reflecting the 243-year relationship between the two nations.

The exhibition showcases Chaumet’s legacy of nature-inspired designs, featuring jewellery pieces and visual artworks. It offers an immersive experience into 240 years of Chaumet’s naturalistic design, tracing the brand’s botanical inspirations from 1780 to the present.

The exhibition marks the next stage of the collaboration between M7 and Maison Chaumet, which began in March 2024. This partnership led to the selection of local graphic designer Zainab AlShibani to create Chaumet’s Arabic logo, now used in its flagship stores across the Middle East. The exhibition also serves as a continuation of the Qatar-France 2020 Year of Culture, a collaborative program between institutions from both countries.

Presented by Chaumet, a Parisian luxury jewellery brand founded in 1780 by Marie-Étienne Nitot, the Chaumet & Nature exhibition is part of Qatar Creates’ Fall/Winter 2024-2025 season. Qatar Creates is a platform dedicated to elevating Qatar’s creative industries and promoting cultural engagement within the country.

The collaboration is further exemplified through works featured in the exhibition, including the poem Treasures of the Earth by Salman Bin Khalid and an exclusive piece by artist Shouq al-Mana, inspired by underwater themes tied to Qatar’s pearl diving history. These elements highlight M7’s role in fostering Qatar’s creative economy and supporting local talent.
