Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2019 Dazzles With Big Names in Jewellery Industry
On its 16th edition, Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) dazzles with big names in the luxury jewellery industry taking part for the first time including famous New York-based brand Tiffany & Co.
“We are very excited to be here showing the full high jewellery collection of our brand for the first time. We believe this is a great opportunity, and our clients here have been waiting for us to come as well. We know from our discussions with them that they are very keen to have Tiffany available for them here in the market,” Joe Nahhas, Vice President Middle East & Africa at Tiffany & Co. told The Peninsula.
Commenting on the Qatari market, Nahhas said, “I think the clients here are very sophisticated clientele whereof the value of the diamonds that we offer and the other precious stones that we have and I think appreciate the jewellery of high value and the heritage that we bring.”
In response to the demand of the sophisticate Qatari market, Tiffany has really made an effort to bring unique and stunning pieces such as a 50-carat internally flawless diamond ring and a beautiful waterfall necklace from the Blue Book jewelllery collection.
He stressed Tiffany’s strong heritage and legacy spanning over 180 years as well as being the first established international luxury jewellery to commit to diamond provenance disclosure.
“We recently announced that we will be able to tell you where the diamonds come from, which is really unique in the industry – the diamond provenance. We are the first established international luxury jewellery to be able to do that and this means we can actually tell you which country a particular stone came from,” he explained.
From transparency point of view, he said diamond provenance disclosure is vital, and that more and more clients wanted to know this kind of information.
The provenance of Tiffany’s diamonds, the brand’s heritage and its 180-year history and the journey it has taken to cement its strong presence in the luxury market was the subject of the talk of Tiffany’s chief gemologist Melvyn Kirtley yesterday at the second edition of DJWE Forum, to which Nahhas attaches great importance.
“I think the forum is very good. As well as having a fair for the brands to showcase their collections, I think it’s a good opportunity to be able to have a discussion about the significance of the jewellery market, the diamond provenance and all the various elements in jewellery design,” he said.
