Feriel Zerouki assumed leadership of the World Diamond Council on May 15

De Beers executive Feriel Zerouki became the first woman president of the World Diamond Council (WDC) on May 15, 2023.  Zerouki was elected vice president of the WDC in 2020 and was scheduled to become president in 2022. However, the WDC directors decided to extend Zerouki’s term and the terms of the other elected leaders for an additional year partly because of the disruptions the COVID-19 epidemic caused.

Zerouki began her career in the diamond sector in 2005 at De Beers’ Diamond Trading Co. (DTC), where she worked as a supply chain analyst. She currently holds the position of senior vice president of corporate affairs for De Beers, serves on the Responsible Jewellery Council board of directors, and most recently joined the Jewellers Vigilance Committee board.

Zerouki was born in the United Arab Emirates and is of Algerian origin. She is proficient in French, English, and Arabic and has degrees in mathematics & business administration from Queen Mary University of London.
