Vicenza (Italy), September 3rd 2019 – The event scheduled to start in a few days’ time (7th – 11th September), organized by Italian Exhibition Groups, will be a truly “priceless” edition of Vicenzaoro September, where the in-Show experience will be extended and not only fill the Exhibition Centre halls but also embrace the entire city with VIOFF, the Vicenzaoro off-Show event.

An initiative organized through a collaboration between Vicenza Council and Italian Exhibition Group that, from 6th to 8th September, will celebrate art in all its forms: visual arts, dance, music, theatre, literature and much more will be bringing Vicenza’s city centre streets to life in an exceptional programme of events to  honour these various manifestations of beauty.

The coming edition will be dedicated to the “Golden Arts” and one of the leading players will be the famous surrealist artist, Salvador Dalí, who is particularly dear to Vicenza for his known admiration of Palladio. The VIOFF title, “Golden Arts”, well expresses the essence of the event: Golden refers to the gold trade fair and is the colour that identifies and represents the Berici hill capital; Arts, in its plural form, indicates the arts in their entirety that encase the innumerable aspects of this polyhedral human expression, from visual arts, to music and dance. The full and constantly updated programme includes a good 12 arts declined in 24 initiatives staged over three days and involves over 40 institutional partners.

One of the numerous prestigious collaborations is with Dalí Universe and its president, Beniamino Levi, considered as one of the greatest private collectors of the Catalan genius’s works, who will be bringing some magnificent original pieces to Vicenzaoro September. Inside the Exhibition Centre halls from 7th to 11th September, visitors will be able to admire two monumental, 5-metre high sculptures, which will then be on display in Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza De Gasperi, in the heart of the city, until 26th January 2020: “Dance of Time I” dedicated to the relentless liquefaction of a watch to symbolize the erosion of time’s rigidness, and Homage to Terpschore, the Greek mythological muse of dance and choral music with its cubist lines. These works will be placed in Vicenza’s historical centre together with other monumental sculptures and museum pieces from the important collection, including Space Venus, The Triumph Elephant, The Dalinian Dancer, Dance of Time III and the Surrealist Piano.

IEG’s commitment intends to create an authentic “widespread exhibition” that would connect the trade show with symbolic city locations to make the sense of VIOFF and the multi-faceted aspects of jewellery, which is also an artistic, cultural and technical artistic expression, explicitly clear.

Moreover, on 7th September, the doors will open to the public (until 26th January 2020) at the Museo del Gioiello jewellery museum’s exhibition entitled “Precious Art: the jewellery sculptures of Salvador Dalí”, located in the striking setting of the Basilica Palladiana. An unprecedented and elegant conversation between Vicenza and Catalan ingenuity through an exclusive collection of jewellery that master goldsmiths from Vicenza devised, studied and created with Dalí Universe, drawing inspiration from Dalí’s dreamlike pictures.

At Vicenzaoro, Dalí’s surrealism will meet Andrea Palladio’s classicism in a harmonious dichotomy between ancient and contemporary. Dalí himself, in deep admiration, defined the Vicenza architect as “el archetipo de lo daliniano”.
