Jewellery Designer Luis Morais to Meet Oman Clients on April 11

Jewellery designer Luis Morais, known for creating luxury pieces with a casual rock-and-roll vibe, will be in Muscat in person to showcase a new collection. The Miami-based designer will connect with his customers in Oman at Eye Candy, Opera Galleria, on April 11 from 10 am to 2 pm and 4 pm to 7 pm.
The Brazil-born designer states his mission is to provide clients with a unique duality in his designs. According to his website, “The designs seek to convey certain juxtaposition; the rare balance between a playful, light-hearted spirit and a darker, wilder side. The jewellery itself is elegant and humorous, sophisticated and amusing.”
His creations are in white gold, yellow gold, diamonds, gems, and even crocodile skin, with skulls and crosses being a signature element. Some bracelets feature recycled vinyl. He described the skulls in his designs as a reminder that ‘we must live in the present being the kindest you can and compassionate because, in the end, we take nothing with us’.
Though Luis Morais, the company, was officially incorporated in 2002, he started designing in 1998 after seeing a bracelet in a magazine that he could not find to purchase. He assembled a variant of it himself which won so many compliments from friends and family that he made more copies of it heralding the beginning of a line. He claims the brand still holds that spirit of personality – each piece being unique and handmade.
He described the new line he’s bringing to Oman as being about ‘love and fun’. “I felt like the world needed it to be spelled out and so I did just that! I believe we all want to experience love and fun especially with all the news around the world. Who doesn’t want to own something made with love, that symbolises love and kindness?”
Asked if he designed the line specifically for Oman, he said, “No, nothing specific for Oman but we always take special orders.” He designs for both women and men. “I create jewellery with no gender in mind. I create jewellery to be worn and loved by whoever it speaks to.” While the brand has had several celebrities as clients, Morais said he considers Luis Morais’ long list of long-time clients as its most significant achievement. On Oman and his second visit, he said, “I love seeing the customers here who are so kind and have supported me over the years; I can’t wait to see them again.”
