Public Utilities Co to develop, and renovate central gold market; ‘Unique shopping experience

The CEO of the Public Utilities Company, Eng. Saleh Al-Othman, said the first phase of the project to develop and renovate the Central Gold Market in Mubarakiya will be implemented in two phases, reports Al-Qabas daily. He stated the project area is 2,623 square meters, and it will include 149 shops and offices for the Ministry of Commerce.

The gold market development project falls within the axes of developing the company’s facilities, in accordance with the recommendation and directives of the Board of Directors, as the public facilities are carrying out a comprehensive development process within an integrated plan and a clear vision to upgrade the services provided by these facilities. A leading consulting office has been contracted to implement the project is in two phases, the first phase includes firefighting, electricity, air conditioning and civil works for ceilings, while the second phase includes development and renovation of the interior decoration of the building, while preserving the original heritage features of the market and its unique characteristics. Al-Othman confirmed that the Public Utilities Management Company is always seeking renewal and change for the better in order to provide the best services, and this is what it was keen on in this project, in order to serve customers and tenants.

Eng Al-Othman went on to say, “We work side by side with shop owners to understand and meet their needs and desires, and to provide a unique shopping experience for both merchants and marketeers.” It is worth noting that the Public Utilities Company has been running the Kuwait Central Market for gold and jewelry since 1984, and it had previously developed it. The Central Gold Market is considered one of the oldest and best markets in Kuwait, and the first central market for gold and jewelry, which enhances its leading position, especially as it enjoys a unique location in the center of the capital, and is characterized by a wonderful heritage design that makes it one of the historical landmarks in the region.
