Shamsa Alabbar collaborates with Piaget to launch exquisite coffee cups for Ramadan

Showcasing virtues like Peace and Generosity, the limited-edition pieces reflect cultural significance through a contemporary lens and merges Arabic calligraphy and modern design
Dubai: UAE-based jewellery designer Shamsa Alabbar has ventured beyond crafting accessories with an exclusive coffee cup collection. In collaboration with Swiss luxury brand Piaget, she created a stunning set of collectible coffee cups that blend modern minimalism with Arabic heritage, making them a unique addition to any collection.
The coffee cup collection was designed as part of a special Ramadan collaboration with Piaget. Alabbar’s signature Token motif is prominently featured in the design, symbolising power, unity, and balance. Each cup showcases Arabic calligraphy representing virtues such as Light, Peace, Blessing, Tranquility, and Generosity—qualities deeply connected to the spirit of Ramadan.
Alabbar’s approach to design is heavily influenced by Arabic typography and geometric precision. For this collection, she carefully integrated traditional elements with a sleek, contemporary aesthetic. The use of clean lines and minimalistic patterns ensures that the collection remains modern while paying homage to cultural roots during the holy month of Ramadan.
The collection is more than just a set of coffee cups—it is a celebration of Middle Eastern artistry. By combining craftsmanship with cultural storytelling, Alabbar has redefined how everyday objects can become works of art. The collection also reflects a deep respect for heritage while embracing innovation in design.
Shamsha Alabbar’s coffee cup collection is a testament to her ability to merge tradition with modernity. Through her work, she continues to inspire a new wave of designers who seek to honour Arabic heritage in contemporary luxury design. This collection serves as a perfect example of how functional items can carry cultural significance, transforming the act of drinking coffee into an artistic experience.
The collaboration marks another significant chapter between the two brands. They had previously partnered to craft the second Limelight Gala Limited Edition watch, which paid homage to the Gulf’s region’s maritime legacy as well as her family’s history of pearling.
