Bangkok: The Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair, one of the most renowned trade fairs of its kind in the world, started on February 21, this Wednesday, providing a platform for local Thailand-based entrepreneurs to connect with global buyers. In addition, this event presents visitors with the most up-to-date collection of colourful gems and dazzling jewellery in all of Asia.
The 69th edition of the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair, organised by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT), serves as an essential international trading nexus for valuable gems and jewellery, while at the same time giving a platform to support local Thai entrepreneurs and promote designers within Thailand’s gems and jewellery sector. Approximately 1,100 companies, from all over the world, converged at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from February 21-25, setting up over 2,500 booths across eight halls.
The first three days will be open for buyers, importers, retailers and wholesalers, entrepreneurs, suppliers, and manufacturers. However, visitors can have a look on all five days, but retail sales for the public begin on the final two days.

For this year’s fair, jewellery designers continue to push boundaries by combining traditional craftsmanship with innovative designs, keeping up with the evolving tastes of consumers, including sustainable luxury creations, rare colourful gemstones, customisable jewellery, versatile metalwork, and more.
Additionally, there are numerous interesting activities for traders and visitors alike, including a networking reception, a ‘New Faces’ zone, a jeweller’s showcase featuring the works of emerging Thai designers, the ‘RIT-RICH’ showcase which spotlights Thailand’s spiritual power jewellery, and an export clinic conducted by DITP commercial representatives from Thai trade centres around the world. There are seminars on various topics, including production techniques and marketing.
The special highlight for this year’s event is an opening ceremony with HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana. Her Royal Highness will showcase her jewellery designs under the Sirivannavari x Beauty Gems collaboration in an exhibition entitled ‘Heirlooms of Elegance’. The collection reflects the artistic talents and personal stories of the princess, while also highlighting the prowess of Thai gems and jewellery.
The fair is expected to reel in 40,000 visitors and generate at least THB 3.3 billion in trade value. According to Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit, the Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion, this event is of vital economic importance.
“The gems and jewellery industry engage nearly 800,000 individuals across the supply chain. The Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair is considered an essential mechanism in reinforcing Thailand’s gems and jewellery industry and highlighting the country’s standing as the world’s leading gems and jewellery destination,” said Sereroengrit.
