The ninth edition of Muscat International Jewellery Exhibition (MIJEX) opened at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre on Tuesday.

The organisers expect around 25,000 visitors during the five days of the event. The premier global trade fair was inaugurated by Sheikha Aisha bin Khalfan bin Jameel al Sayabiyah, chairperson of the Public Authority for Craft Industries. The exhibition features a wide range of precious and authentic gemstones, spectacular pearls, gold ornaments and diamonds.

Akavut Tangsilikusonwong, managing director, Vega Intertrade and Exhibitions said, “A lot of international jewellers are participating in the exhibition. There will be good offers from jewellers.” An important highlight of this year’s fair is an opportunity for the visitors to win a fabulous diamond watch. Salem al Shueibi Jewellery will give away the prize to the winner through a raffle draw. Those interested just need to visit the exhibition, Tangsili kusonwong said.

Besides, materials, tools, equipment and accessories, too are being showcased at the trade fair from a wide range of manufacturers and distributors from within the region and outside. Hassan Ramadhan Sulaiman, deputy director general, Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre said, “Last year we also had international visitors so it clearly reflects how popular this exhibition is. International companies are participating in a big way.”

The trade fair is jointly organised by the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre and Vega Intertrade and Exhibition.
The premier trade fair, which is open to both companies and public, has attracted companies from across the world, including Lebanon, India, Qatar, Italy, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey and the UAE.
An exhibitor from Salem al Shueibi Jewellery from the UAE said, “Competitors call us jewellery for kings. We have jewellery for everyone and specially those who like heavy weighing jewellery.” For the last eight consecutive years, MIJEX has been well-received by both traders and buyers as the exhibition features a wide range of jewellery from various leading brands and newcomers from many countries.
