UK Princesses wore around £1.2million worth of jewellery at Jordan royal wedding

Kate Middleton and Princess Beatrice represented the British royal family at the Jordanian royal wedding

Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, 41, and Princess Beatrice, 34, attended the royal wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa Al Saif recently.

The Princess of Wales wore an Elie Saab gown from the AW17 RTW Collection to the religious ceremony. To accessorize, she chose a pair of earrings which remain unidentified, although royal fans have a theory they could have been a wedding gift from the Jordan royal family back in 2011.

Twitter user @TribesBritannia said: “I’m beginning to believe that these Morganite and diamond earrings were a wedding present from the Hashemite Court of Jordan, which is why Catherine chose to wear them today with a dress by a Middle-Eastern designer Elie Saab from Lebanon.”

Similarly, @Jay7yn added: “Be interesting if those earrings were a wedding gift from Jordan. We know how Princess Catherine digs deep with diplomatic dressing.”

For the evening banquet, the Princess of Wales was wearing the late Princess Diana’s Lover’s Knot Tiara and Greville Chandelier Earrings.

The diamond and pearl tiara was originally designed for Queen Mary back in 1913 and ended up in Queen Elizabeth II’s collection, who reportedly presented it to Diana for her royal wedding day in 1981, though the Princess opted to wear her family’s Spencer’s tiara. Despite this, the Lover’s Knot became one of Diana’s favourite pieces. Kate has worn the tiara on many occasions, including the wedding in Jordan.

Kate additionally wore Greville Chandelier Earrings, which were created in 1918 and modified to their current form in 1929. The late Queen Mother inherited these jewels in 1942, and Queen Elizabeth II began wearing them from 1952 onwards.

Their current value is not currently known, although they were said to be worth £100 in 1942 which would equate to roughly £6,000 today.

Meanwhile, the earrings that Princess Beatrice wore for both the religious ceremony and the evening banquet were her Diamond Chandelier Earrings that she first debuted during the Platinum Jubilee.

Beatrice’s ears are not pierced, which would make these pieces clip-on earrings. The jewels are likely custom-made which would certainly increase their value.

Finally, she wore the York Tiara at the evening banquet which is worth approximately £250,000 according to Steven Stone Jewellers.
