Italian brand Pomellato launches ‘The Dualism of Milan’ high jewellery rangeĀ

Creative director Vincenzo Castaldo unveils new Pom Pom Dot collection in Dubai
Milan ā Pomellato has always stood out by transforming jewellery from mere status symbols into versatile accessories. This pioneering vision has now reached its pinnacle with the unveiling of Pomellato’s latest high jewellery collection, “The Dualism of Milan.”
Creative director Vincenzo Castaldo introduced this new collection, comprising 51 exquisite pieces, inspired by the paradoxical nature of Milanāa city characterized by its austere urban landscape and vibrant creative spirit. āI wanted to convey the spirit of the city,ā Castaldo explained. āA mix of rationalist architecture, skyscrapers with their sinuous lines, and the night-time atmosphere of the shopping arcades.ā
Castaldo highlighted Milanās unique ability to infuse colour into its creations, drawing inspiration from luminaries such as Gio Ponti and the Memphis Group. This latest collection is a tribute to Milanās stylish women, blending tradition with modernity.
In Dubai, Castaldo also presented the Pom Pom Dot collection, an innovative reinterpretation of a 1974 necklace from Pomellato’s archives. The collection features a single-button pendant on a delicate chain, crafted from materials such as malachite, mother-of-pearl, and white rhodium-plated rose gold. The design is versatile, allowing the piece to be worn as a necklace, bracelet, or earrings. āWe wanted to create something with a touch of colour and diamonds, but with a sentimental approach,ā Castaldo remarked.
Castaldo’s journey from Tuscany to Milan underscores his deep connection with the cityās vibrant fashion scene. He started his career assisting fashion designer Romeo Gigli, gaining invaluable experience that shaped his approach to design. His subsequent role at Dolce & Gabbana further honed his skills, preparing him for his transformative role at Pomellato.
Appointed creative director in 2014, the same year Pomellato was acquired by Kering, Castaldo has since overseen the creation of several distinctive collections. The Nudo collection, known for its coloured gemstones, and the Iconica collection, featuring chunky chains with masculine overtones, are among the brand’s highlights. Each collection showcases Pomellatoās commitment to sensual, tactile designs, crafted by artisans in their in-house atelier.
Pomellato launched its first high jewellery collection in 2020 and followed it with “Ode to Milan” in 2023, a tribute to the brandās home city. The latest collection, “The Dualism of Milan,” continues this tradition, blending innovative design with impeccable craftsmanship, appealing to women who seek the unconventional and the unique.
