Cartier marks 25 years in the Middle East with ‘Journey of Wonders’ exhibition in Dubai

Featuring over 300 high jewellery creations, the exhibition at Dubai’s Al Shindagha Museum explores Cartier’s long-standing ties with the region through themes of the sea, desert, and celestial elements, reflecting its ongoing engagement with Middle Eastern heritage
Dubai: Cartier is commemorating 25 years in the Middle East with the unveiling of its Journey of Wonders exhibition at Dubai’s Al Shindagha Museum. The exhibition showcases over 300 high jewellery creations, highlighting the Maison’s long-standing connection to the region.
Al Shindagha Museum, a site of historical significance as the former residence of Dubai’s ruling family, serves as the venue for this display. The exhibition is designed to reflect the UAE’s cultural and artistic heritage, reinforcing Cartier’s ties with the region that date back to 1912. It was during this time that Jacques Cartier visited the Middle East in search of pearls and was introduced to the craftsmanship and traditions that continue to influence the brand’s designs today.
Journey of Wonders is structured around three thematic sections, each representing an element of Dubai’s identity. The first section focuses on the sea, a crucial part of Emirati heritage. Cartier highlights the influence of pearl diving and maritime traditions through jewellery pieces inspired by the ocean, an enduring motif in the Maison’s history.
The second section shifts focus to the desert, drawing attention to the golden dunes and the resilience of the region’s flora. The contrast between the desert’s harsh conditions and its delicate beauty is reflected in Cartier’s intricate high jewellery designs, which balance strength and refinement.
The final segment of the exhibition is dedicated to the celestial theme, showcasing an array of loose diamonds and gemstone sets. This section captures the brilliance of the stars, an element frequently incorporated into Cartier’s collections.
By hosting this exhibition in Dubai, Cartier underlines its ongoing appreciation for the Middle East and its cultural influence. The event serves as a milestone in the Maison’s regional presence, showing its connection to local heritage through high jewellery craftsmanship.
