Almuftah Jewellery brings Oris’ updated Big Crown Pointer Date series to Qatar’s watch collectors 

Almuftah Jewellery and Swiss watchmaker Oris hosted the Qatar debut of the redesigned Big Crown Pointer Date, featuring Oris’ Calibre 403 movement and brought together elite watch collectors and automotive enthusiasts at Gymkhana Qatar 

Doha: Almuftah Jewellery, in collaboration with Swiss watchmaker Oris, recently introduced the latest iteration of the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date collection at a launch event held at Gymkhana Qatar in Katara Hills, Doha. The event was attended by members of the Almuftah family, collectors from the Doha Watch Club, Elite Supercars representatives, select media, and watch enthusiasts, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to delivering premium watchmaking experiences to Qatar’s luxury clientele. 

The updated Big Crown Pointer Date continues Oris’ longstanding legacy, originally launched in 1938, and has been refreshed with several modern design and mechanical upgrades. The new collection features a reduced 38mm case size, contemporary dial colours, sans-serif numerals, and pencil-style hands, maintaining the model’s signature aesthetic while appealing to today’s refined consumer preferences. 

Central to the update is the inclusion of the Oris Calibre 403, part of the brand’s 400 Series of in-house movements. The automatic Calibre 403 offers a five-day power reserve, strong anti-magnetic properties, a small seconds sub-dial at the 6 o’clock position, and the original pointer date complication. This marks a significant advancement in Oris’ movement technology and reinforces the brand’s direction towards self-reliance and performance engineering. 

The event created a unique crossover between horology and automotive luxury, with Elite Supercars displaying high-performance vehicles alongside the watch showcases. The experience was designed to emphasise the shared values of precision engineering, design, and technical performance, attracting a high-profile audience from across Qatar’s luxury landscape.
