‘A Diamond is Forever’ reveals the celebrity diamonds that broke the Internet in new study

The study finds that impact no longer depends on scale alone; context, timing and personal meaning shape how diamond jewellery resonates
New York: A new study by ‘A Diamond Is Forever’ – titled ‘Diamonds That Broke the Internet Index’ – ranks the year’s most impactful celebrity diamond moments using a proprietary index analysing 10 performance indicators. It captures the year’s most viral celebrity jewellery moments, from statement diamond necklace debuts to swoon-worthy engagement rings – moments that have captured global attention, sparked conversation and shaped style trends worldwide. The study measures cultural impact alongside media reach and search performance.
The 10 metrics used by the study are: total mentions, social mentions, social sentiment, media mentions, media prominence, inspiration factor, buzz longevity, search volume, sentiment over time, and overall impact. Each metric is scored from 1–10, with a maximum total score of 100.
Here are the top five celebrity diamond moments, according to the study:
#1 Kendrick Lamar’s ‘a’ diamond necklace

Topping the index, American rapper Kendrick Lamar’s lowercase ‘a’ diamond necklace became a defining cultural moment following his 2025 Super Bowl halftime performance. Featuring 515 diamonds on a bold iced-out chain, the piece generated widespread online discussion, with fans linking it to his company pgLang and lyrics from ‘Not Like Us’.
It achieved a perfect 10 for inspiration and social mentions, amassing over 16.4 million mentions globally.
#2 Rihanna’s diamond brooch and layered jewelry

Singer Rihanna delivered one of the most talked-about looks at the 2025 Met Gala, styling 24.5-carat Bvlgari double diamond brooches with layered natural diamonds and sharp studs. The look, which also revealed her pregnancy, blended high fashion with personal story-telling.
Her diamond moment generated 14.4 million social mentions, reinforcing her status as a global style icon.
# Kate Middleton’s stacked diamond rings

Catherine, Princess of Wales, drew global attention with a five-ring stack combining heritage and modern elegance. The set included Princess Diana’s iconic sapphire-and-diamond ring, her Welsh gold wedding band and three eternity rings.
The moment generated over 1.4 million social mentions and strong engagement across digital platforms, highlighting the enduring appeal of royal jewellery.
#4 Lewis Hamilton’s diamond brooch

At the 2025 Met Gala, British Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton wore a vintage 1980s floral brooch set with white, yellow and pink diamonds against precise tailoring. The statement he made was that men’s diamond dressing is no longer confined to watches and studs; a brooch can lead the look.
With 100% positive media reception and strong social approval, Hamilton’s brooch proved that men’s diamond jewellery has moved firmly into the mainstream.
#5 Taylor Swift’s diamond engagement ring

When singer Taylor Swift announced her engagement to Travis Kelce, attention quickly shifted to her diamond ring, designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry. The Old Mine cut center stone set in 18k yellow gold placed it firmly among the year’s most talked-about diamond jewellery engagement rings.
With 2,750,000 searches in the past year alone, Swift’s ring led the Index in search volume, supported by positive media reception and sustained social conversation. The response translated into renewed demand for vintage-inspired natural diamond engagement rings, especially Old Mine and elongated cushion cuts.
These moments highlight how diamonds continue to shape culture, story-telling, and personal expression. From red carpets to everyday wear, jewellery remains a powerful symbol of identity and style.
The top five generated the largest measurable impact, but they were not the only celebrity jewellery moments to command attention. The full list includes appearances that reignited interest in the diamond tennis bracelet, revived archival-inspired diamond necklace styling and elevated red-carpet diamonds in unexpected ways.
It also captures moments like Bad Bunny’s Desert diamond earring, worn during the first Spanish-language Super Bowl halftime performance. The emotion of that performance, and the visible pride in his culture, gave the single diamond earring symbolic weight far beyond its scale. Across the index, one theme emerges: impact no longer depends on scale alone. Context, timing and personal meaning now shape how diamond jewellery resonates.
