The Group announced plans to introduce an international membership category, allowing designers from outside the UAE to participate and exchange knowledge with local members

Dubai: The Dubai Business Group for Gold and Jewelry Designers convened its annual general meeting, bringing together members to review its 2025 performance and outline its direction for 2026. The session reflected the group’s ongoing efforts to connect the design community with structured industry frameworks and opportunities.

The meeting focused on presenting the group’s work across jewellery education, business development and policy engagement. Over the past year, the group conducted workshops in gemology in collaboration with global laboratories, alongside sessions on legal practices and business management aimed at supporting designers, particularly those at an early stage.

Maha Al-Sibai, Chairperson, Dubai Business Group for Gold and Jewelry Designers, said, “Our objective is to create a structure that supports designers not only in creativity but also in understanding how to operate within the business environment.” The group also hosted sessions on marketing and digital platforms, enabling members to expand their reach across domestic and international markets.

A key development highlighted during the meeting was the group’s engagement with the Dubai Chamber on licensing frameworks for jewellery designers. The discussions aim to establish processes that reflect the operational needs of designers, distinguishing them from large-scale jewellery traders. This step is expected to simplify entry into the sector while ensuring compliance with regulatory systems.

The group also presented its role in facilitating global exposure through its platform, Dubai Jewel Narratives, which supports participation in international jewellery events and curated showcases. This initiative enables members to present their work across markets while building trade connections and visibility.

Maha Al-Sibai said, “We are working towards expanding opportunities for our members beyond local markets through structured international engagement.” In line with this, the group announced plans to introduce an international membership category, allowing designers from outside the UAE to participate and exchange knowledge with local members.

Looking ahead to 2026, the group outlined plans to expand collaborations across education, trade and design, alongside the upcoming edition of the Dubai Jewel Narrative Awards. These initiatives aim to strengthen the position of Dubai as a centre for jewellery design, alongside its established role in trade.

By bringing together designers, institutions and industry partners, the group aims to create a coordinated approach to sector development, supporting both individual members and the wider ecosystem.

The Dubai Business Group for Gold and Jewelry Designers was established in early 2024 under the initiative of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce to support and develop local and regional talent in the jewellery design sector. The non-profit industry body was formed to unite jewellery designers, encourage collaboration and provide resources that can elevate UAE-based design talent on the global stage.
