Dubai: The Dubai Gold District is reinforcing its position as a destination for innovation-led gold retail with the exclusive launch of a limited-edition UAE-themed coin collection, developed in collaboration with Emirates Minting Factory.

Available in one-ounce gold and silver formats, the commemorative coins draw on the ‘Proud of UAE’ theme and are being retailed exclusively through the district’s physical stores and online channels. The initiative reflects a growing convergence between bullion investment and retail, as consumers increasingly seek products that combine intrinsic value with cultural significance.

From a retail perspective, the launch highlights a key shift in gold consumption patterns. Industry observers note that demand for investment-grade coins and bars has remained resilient amid global economic uncertainty, while limited-edition formats are gaining traction for their dual appeal as collectibles and financial assets. By anchoring the collection in national identity and restricting availability to a single retail ecosystem, Dubai Gold District is creating both exclusivity and experiential value.

The collaboration also introduces a community-linked dimension, with proceeds supporting Ferjan Dubai, a social enterprise focused on community development, aligning retail activity with social impact. This reflects a broader trend across the Gulf’s jewellery and bullion sector, where brands and retail destinations are increasingly integrating purpose-driven initiatives into commercial offerings.

Rashid Al Harmoodi, Senior Commercial Director at Ithra Dubai, said, “The UAE has demonstrated a spirit of unity and strength in moments that matter most. This initiative contributes meaningfully to the community.”

Alia Al Shamlan, Managing Director of Ferjan Dubai, added, “We are keen to build effective strategic partnerships with government entities and private sector institutions in a way that enhances the quality of life for Emirati citizens and positively impacts members of society.”

For Dubai Gold District, the initiative underscores a strategic pivot towards curated, high-value product offerings that cater to both investors and experience-driven buyers, while strengthening its role in shaping the next phase of gold retail.

The Dubai Gold District, part of Ithra Dubai’s Deira Enrichment Project, is a modern evolution of the emirate’s historic gold souk. Positioned as a global hub for gold trade and retail, it brings together jewellers, bullion dealers, and ancillary services within an integrated ecosystem, combining traditional market heritage with contemporary infrastructure, digital channels, and tourism-driven retail experiences.
