In the month of Ramadan, Damas inaugurates new store at Al-Madinah al-Munawwara in Saudi Arabia
The timing of the launch is strategic, as pilgrims flock to Madinah, considered Islam’s second holiest city after Mecca, this month after completing Hajj
Saudi Arabia: Damas has just inaugurated its latest store in the heart of Madinah, considered Islam’s second holiest city after Mecca, in Saudi Arabia. This outlet is part of the brand’s strategic expansion plan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and is designed to cater to the multitude of visitors to Madinah, especially in the month of Ramadan, when pilgrims flock to the holy city.
Madinah is commonly referred to as the “cradle of Islamic culture and civilisation” and although a visit to the city is not part of the Hajj, most pilgrims visit Madinah after completing the Hajj before they head home. The new boutique store is located near the sacred precincts of the Holy Mosque and is easily accessible to visitors.
The opening ceremony, attended by Luc Perramond, Chairman & CEO, Damas Jewellery, celebrated the milestone for the brand, and its ambitious plan to enhance its footprint across key locations, bringing its unique blend of sophistication, exclusivity and heritage closer to its valued customers.
Commenting on the store opening, Perramond said, “Congratulations to the Damas KSA Team for another milestone store in the Kingdom. What a beautiful store at the heart of the new Al Safiya Museum in Madinah.”
Speaking on the occasion, a spokesperson for the brand expressed excitement about the grand opening, emphasizing the brand’s ongoing efforts to elevate standards and redefine the luxury retail landscape. In a social media post, the brand stated that its expansion into Saudi Arabia, starting with this exquisite boutique in Al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, underscored its “dedication to sophistication, uniqueness and the pursuit of setting new benchmarks in luxury retail”.
The new store not only has an exclusive selection of the brand’s jewellery, but also represents its philosophy of merging contemporary design with elements of tradition, thus catering to the refined tastes of its clientele.
In its founding year in 1907, Damas Jewellery offered goldsmith services in the Middle East until its first store opened at the Gold Souk in Dubai in 1959. The brand currently has 70+ stores in the United Arab Emirates. As of February 2024, Dubai has the maximum number of Damas Jewellery outlets with 39 stores, followed by Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, which have 18 and 6 stores, respectively. The jewellery brand also has three stores each in Fujairah, Al Ain, and Ras Al Khaimah, and single retail outlets in the cities of Ajman and Umm Al Quwain.
