Dubai: Mohammed Abdulmagied Seddiqi, CEO of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, is captivating luxury watch enthusiasts with the latest episode of his Tick-Talk with MAMS digital series. He takes viewers through the extraordinary creations of Swiss watch brand MB&F, renowned for its innovative designs and mechanical artistry.

The Tick-Talk with MAMS series offers an in-depth look at the artistry and craftsmanship behind some of the unique pieces of MB&F. In this episode, Seddiqi begins by introducing a ladies’ tourbillon machine named Ice, a collaboration between MB&F and French jeweller Emmanuel Tarpin. This limited-edition machine, with only eight pieces worldwide, features a lapis lazuli dial, a flying tourbillon, and diamonds set on the glass, giving the effect of frozen ice. Seddiqi explains the ingenious design, which positions the time display on the side, allowing discreet time-checking. The reverse side reveals a rotor resembling a sun, accompanied by a baby blue strap, adding a feminine touch to the intricate piece.

Seddiqi also highlights MB&F’s Horological Machines, starting with the HM8 Mark 2. Made of white carbon, carbon macroline, and titanium, this piece reinterprets 1960s watch concepts with dual time windows that reflect discs to display the time. He emphasises the rotor’s green accent, which complements the velcro strap, and notes the rarity of the non-limited model due to its high demand.

The HM9, described as a “monster,” stands out for its sapphire case and purple DLC-coated movement. With only five pieces available, Seddiqi details the challenges of crafting sapphire in complex shapes, calling it an art piece designed for admiration rather than practicality.

The series transitions to the Legacy Machines, which take a more classical approach. Seddiqi discusses the Perpetual Calendar Evo, crafted in titanium with a skeletonised perpetual calendar movement. This collaboration with Irish watchmaker Stephen McDonnell introduces a “childproof” design, allowing seamless date adjustments without damaging the mechanism. He also features the LM101, a simpler model with time, power reserve, and a visible movement, available in steel, white gold, and rose gold.

Through Tick-Talk with MAMS, Seddiqi showcases MB&F’s unique philosophy of tailoring movements to case shapes, moving beyond conventional designs. The episode underscores MB&F’s dedication to merging engineering with artistry, making their machines both functional and collectible.

For those interested in exploring these extraordinary creations, Seddiqi invites viewers to visit the M.A.D Gallery in Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue, a haven for innovative mechanical art and horology enthusiasts.
