Azza Fahmy opens expanded London flagship in Burlington Arcade, drawing on Egyptian heritage and immersive designÂ

Designed by Universal Design Studio, the boutique immerses visitors in Egyptian heritage through architectural motifs, curated interiors, bespoke furnishings and handcrafted high jewellery.
LONDON: Egyptian luxury jewellery house Azza Fahmy has launched its newly expanded flagship boutique at 58–59 Burlington Arcade in Mayfair. Designed by Universal Design Studio, the refurbishment transforms the Grade II‑listed premises into a retail environment that foregrounds the brand’s cultural narrative and artisanal expertise.
The new store replaces a smaller, temporary storefront previously in the arcade, positioning Azza Fahmy alongside established luxury names in London’s premier shopping district. Universal Design Studio collaborated closely with the brand to integrate local architectural features with references drawn from Egyptian history. Key interior elements include a brass curtain etched with Fatimid geometric motifs, marble flooring inspired by burial patterns in Luxor, a lotus‑inspired chandelier, and a tapestry by Beirut‑based studio Bokja in the VIP salon.
The central display furniture takes direct inspiration from founder Azza Fahmy’s home, creating a domestic ambience that encourages visitors to spend time exploring. Personal objects—books, photographs and art—populate the space, reinforcing the storytelling dimension of the store.
High jewellery collections, including gem‑set pieces in tanzanite, rubellite and emerald, are showcased alongside core lines. Many items carry Arabic poetic inscriptions, a hallmark of the house’s design signature. The layout invites engagement with fine jewellery in a setting that unfolds as a cultural journey.
This launch underscores Azza Fahmy’s strategy to scale internationally while retaining authenticity. With its relocated London flagship and earlier boutiques in the Middle East and Cairo, the brand aims to reach collector and connoisseur audiences across global luxury hubs. The expanded boutique demonstrates an experiential retail model grounded in narrative, architecture and craftsmanship rather than conventional display techniques.
The London flagship offers a case study in how independent, heritage‑driven brands can differentiate by embedding cultural storytelling within design, reinforcing identity without sacrificing international positioning. The project also reflects a broader trend: luxury retail that emphasises place‑making, design narrative and emotional resonance as drivers of commercial success.
