L’ÉCOLE has released its complete archive of online Conversations, focusing on pearls and its Louvre Abu Dhabi partnership. The recorded sessions feature experts in gemology, heritage and technique, providing remote access to global jewellery knowledge through a free, publicly accessible platform

Abu Dhabi: L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, has launched an expanded archive of online Conversations aimed at spreading jewellery culture globally, with a focus on pearls and its collaboration with the Louvre Abu Dhabi. The archive includes recorded editions from its monthly Live Online Conversations series, featuring expert dialogues on facets of jewellery history, gemology and technique. A highlight is the special event held in partnership with the Louvre Abu Dhabi. That Conversation, titled ‘BEJEWELED: A Symphony of Gemology and Art,’ brought together eleven iconic artefacts from the museum’s permanent collection for analysis by curators and gemology scholars.

The pearls-focused conversations explore the science, history and symbolism of pearls, incorporating contexts from antiquity through the modern era. They draw on contributions from art historians, gemologists and curators, and tap into L’ÉCOLE’s research on storytelling through jewels. These sessions are available on demand, free with registration. They underscore L’ÉCOLE’s aim to democratise knowledge about jewellery arts beyond its physical campuses.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi edition delved into the cross-cultural meanings of gemstones in Middle Eastern and global contexts. The expert panel included the Chief Curator of Louvre Abu Dhabi, a L’ÉCOLE art historian and a L’ÉCOLE gemologist, each offering perspectives on how objects like a San Marino eagle brooch, an Indus-Valley carnelian necklace and a ceremonial dagger illustrate broader cultural narratives. The format combined online and in-person elements, allowing participants worldwide to access insights into the museum’s collection and its jewellery relevance.

L’ÉCOLE positions these Conversations as a key component of its educational toolkit. Alongside in-person programmes and exhibitions, the series enables industry professionals, collectors, scholars and curious audiences to engage with jewellery content remotely. The archive also includes discussions on gemological methods, historical production, and region-specific traditions, including Middle Eastern techniques and designs.

The rollout comes as L’ÉCOLE continues to expand its presence in the region. Having opened its Middle East campus at the Dubai Design District, the school now offers in-person talks, workshops and courses alongside its digital conversation formats. The digital archive is timely, offering a scalable way to engage stakeholders in jewellery culture amid evolving digital engagement models in the industry.

Registration for archived Conversations is available via L’ÉCOLE’s website, with translations and bilingual formats offered in English and French. The Conversations serve both broader public audiences and trade professionals, reflecting L’ÉCOLE’s dual remit of public outreach and industry-level education.
