Weighing over 10 kilograms and valued at Rs. 9.65 crore the 24-carat gold creation, adorned with precious stones, received official recognition from Guinness World Records

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia-based jewellery brand Al Romaizan Gold & Jewellery has unveiled what is now officially recognised as the world’s heaviest gold dress. Weighing more than 10 kilograms and valued at ₹9.65 crore, the 24-carat gold creation was introduced at the 56th Middle East Watch and Jewellery Show in Sharjah, where it was also awarded a Guinness World Record.

Named the Dubai Dress, the creation represents a fusion of cultural inspiration and advanced craftsmanship. The piece is fully crafted from pure gold and embellished with precious stones, making it one of the most technically ambitious jewellery projects to date. It includes a complete set of gold accessories designed to complement the ensemble, from a detailed crown and statement earrings to an ornate waist ornament known as Hiyar. The necklace alone weighs close to nine kilograms.

According to Al Romaizan, the design of the dress draws inspiration from traditional Emirati aesthetics, blending heritage motifs with structural innovation. Each element of the dress, from the carved gold patterns to the extended gold bracelet along the arm, reflects the precision and artistry for which the Gulf region’s jewellery industry has become known.

The debut took place during one of the Middle East’s largest jewellery trade events, which this year hosted over 500 exhibitors and close to 1,800 designers and artisans from across the world. The unveiling attracted significant attention on the show floor, with visitors describing it as a milestone moment for regional jewellery craftsmanship.

Speaking at the exhibition, Mohsen Al Dhaibani, Deputy Manager at Al Romaizan Gold, said the record-setting creation underscores the UAE’s growing influence as a global hub for gold and jewellery. “This masterpiece represents the UAE’s vision to lead globally and showcases Dubai as a premier destination for gold and jewellery enthusiasts,” he said. “By setting this record, we are sending a message to the world that the UAE can blend tradition with innovation and strengthen its position at the forefront of the global jewellery industry.”

The Dubai Dress also reflects a broader creative push by Gulf jewellers to expand the boundaries of gold artistry, moving beyond traditional ornaments into statement couture expressions. As the region’s jewellery sector continues to evolve, the creation demonstrates how design ambition and technical mastery can merge to redefine gold craftsmanship on an international scale.

Founded in Saudi Arabia in 1953, Al Romaizan Gold & Jewellery operates more than 125 stores across the GCC. The brand specialises in 21K and 22K gold jewellery and custom-made designs.
