Cartier unveils “Nature Sauvage” high jewellery collection, enlists Deepika Padukone as face

Paris – As June approaches, Cartier continues to enchant with its iconic panther, even amidst the chill of an ice floe. The jeweller’s latest masterpiece, the Panthère des Glaces necklace, took center stage at the unveiling of its “Nature Sauvage” high jewellery collection in Vienna.
Deepika Padukone, already a global ambassador for Cartier, has been chosen as the face of the “Nature Sauvage” collection. Expressing her excitement, Padukone praised Cartier’s timeless elegance and craftsmanship, declaring it an honor to represent the brand.
“We wanted to breathe new life into Cartier’s bestiary, infusing it with modernity through unexpected encounters,” explained Jacqueline Karachi, Cartier’s creative director of high jewellery, during an exclusive preview with WWD.
While the collection revolves around figurative designs, Karachi and her team sought to craft novel narratives, transporting audiences to imaginary landscapes and staging animals in unconventional settings.
From a flamingo nesting in décolletage to a turtle descending toward a vivid gem, the collection presents a menagerie of captivating scenes. Karachi emphasized that it’s not merely the choice of animals but the context and storytelling that offer surprises.
The jewellery pieces cleverly blend into their environments, occasionally concealing creatures within intricate designs. “It’s about discovering the unexpected,” Karachi noted, pointing to a brooch where unfolding elements reveal a hidden turtle.
Geometric shapes inspired by city structures and modern buildings intertwine seamlessly with animal motifs, infusing the collection with contemporary flair. Among the highlights is the Panthère des Glaces necklace, featuring a striking 71.9-carat rubellite cabochon embraced by the feline’s powerful silhouette. Karachi emphasized the contemporary approach, pushing the boundaries of craftsmanship and challenging traditional European jewellery shapes.
Arnaud Carrez, Cartier’s chief marketing officer, underscored the brand’s commitment to art and culture, highlighting Vienna’s significance as a cultural hub. The Austrian capital serves as the starting point for the “Nature Sauvage” narrative, with subsequent chapters yet to unfold.
The unveiling event, attended by clients, press, and notable figures, is a celebration of Cartier’s heritage and vision. Carrez emphasized Cartier’s inclusive approach, offering glimpses into its world through public exhibitions and events.
With around 100 pieces revealed at the launch, anticipation builds for the unfolding chapters of this story.
